Over a period of four weeks, the Clean Neighborhoods Challenge team will review each submission to ensure it complies with proposal requirements and rules.
The Scoring Committee will score and provide feedback on their assigned submissions using the scoring rubric. Scores are normalized for fairness.
The Selection Panel will review the top-scoring submissions and may request
additional information to select and announce up to five Phase One Awardees in early 2022.
Phase One Awardees will receive a planning grant of $100,000, up to $50,000 of in-kind support, and up to $50,000 in funding for their community partners to strengthen their solutions.
Up to three Phase Two Awardees will each receive an award of up to $10 million to implement their proposed solutions in New York State’s disadvantaged communities.
The Clean Neighborhoods Challenge will fund scalable, community-aligned clean transportation solutions that reduce local air pollution, help to overcome persistent transportation challenges, improve quality of life, and remove barriers to widespread electric and active transportation use in New York State’s disadvantaged communities. Solutions will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality in support of New York State’s nation-leading climate goals.
